We would like to recognize our very own Bro. Jordan Williams, a Spring ‘24 initiate, for being featured in the American Connection Media Outreach newsletter, which shares sailor stories through local connections (e.g. hometown, high school, family, etc). Bro. Williams is a native of Stafford, VA and serves aboard a U.S. Navy warship operating out of Norfolk, VA. He earned a B.S. in Aviation Management with a concentration in Air Traffic Control from Hampton University in 2023.
“I learned in my hometown that I am the master of my own fate and that I am the captain of my soul,” said Bro. Williams. “In the Navy, I know that at the end of the day, what happens is based on what I do. People holding me back is only an obstacle that I had to overcome myself.” Bro. Williams joined the Navy one year ago. Today, he serves as a Surface Warfare Officer aboard USS Kearsarge.
“My family is full of Navy and Marine Corps veterans, I joined the Navy to add to that legacy. It also paid for my college, which is a plus. I am most proud of commissioning as an officer and finishing the ROTC program at Hampton University, because it was a goal I set for myself after an unsuccessful first run at college. I ultimately turned my life around and became a success story.” said Bro. Williams.
As Williams and other sailors continue to train and perform missions, they take pride in serving their country in the United States Navy.
“Serving in the Navy means giving back to my community in a big way and being a mentor to my sailors. I would like to thank my family, friends, ROTC instructors, chain of command and the best interior communications electricians in the fleet for their support, mentorship and for pushing me along the way,” added Bro. Williams.
Congratulations Bro. Williams, continue achieving!👌🏾
