Ready 2 Succeed (R2S) Bookbag and Supply Drive

Chesapeake Virginia Beach Alumni Fraternity, Kappa Alpha Psi, Inc., in partnership with Chesapeake Virginia Beach Achievement Foundation (CVBAF) held their 1st annual READY 2 SUCCEED (R2S) bookbag and supply drive recently serving a total of 186 underprivileged youth with help from the local community and the Brother’s of KAP.  Additionally, the Brothers of CVB, through Eastern Province Officers Workshop donated 20 backpacks and supplies to support the David A. Harrison Elementary School of Prince George, VA and Vernon John Middle School of Petersburg, VA.

CVB 73 membered community led by Polemarch Cornelius Hudgins IV, provided backpacks and school supplies to the 757 and 804 area codes and Prince George/Petersburg communities to assist students for a successful school year.  Items donated were collected from July to August and are valued at more than $2,060.

“Both efforts catered to the needs of youth and their faces were shocked and excited when the Nupes arrived and started handing out much needed items for school, said Derek L. Savage and Cornelius Hudgins, IV.”

Bottom-line:  “The backpacks, each unique in theme, provided students with paper, pencils, calculators, erasers, notebooks, and craft supplies that financially alleviated the burden and leaves teachers with a class full of students equipped and prepared for a successful year, said William Blanks, Sr., CVBAF exchequer.”
